THE WELCOME TREAT FOR THE FRESHMEN
By Mrs. Eva Marie L. Fernandez
(SMS-Minglanilla Faculty)

As this school year opens, many young boys has been given new hope---a hope that the founder, Fr. Al, had envisioned for his children.  These are the children who have the least in material possessions but are considered to be rich in love.  These young boys are the new additions to the Sister of Mary family, who are finding a new home away from home. And these are the freshmen students.

Being the new members of the growing Sisters of Mary family, they were welcomed with so much warmth and gladness.  A day of celebration was organized especially for them on May 8, 2010 at the school gymnasium.  The teachers prepared special presentations; the kuyas rendered exciting numbers; and the sisters showcased their singing prowess.  The welcome message of the school principal was so assuring that these young boys would be provided with the basic needs to prepare them become competent and better individuals in the future.  All in all, it was a day filled with fun and excitement.

It was very evident in the eyes of the first year students the happiness they felt with such a warm welcome.  At the moment, they have forgotten the longing to go back home, the worries for the family they have left behind, and the miseries that they used to grow with while still outside.  The smile on each freshman’s face clearly manifested the joy of being loved and the feeling of security to belong to family.

The event was a fresh good start for the freshmen to experience the lives that they deserve as Fr. Al
wanted it for them.  It was reborn of the hope that these students would cling on to as they continue to face the challenges in life.
