MCL Cup 2009 ends with a bang: SOM-Boystown is over-all champ

The MCL Cup 2009 formally ended with a pompous awarding ceremony last November 26, 2009 at the Francisco Balagtas Auditorium. The winners of the 10 scholastic contests were given their respective awards. The Sisters of Mary School (SOM)-Boystown was once again crowned as this year’s over-all champion. This is their third straight over-all plum in the 4 year old MCL Cup. The school received a trophy and P30,000 in cash. The 1st runner up was St. Scholastica’s College Westgrove, and 2nd runner up was the Sisters of Mary School - Girlstown. They also received trophies, P20,000 and P10,000, respectively.

Engr. Dodjie S. Maestrecampo, EVP and COO of MCL, gave the welcome remarks, while MCL President and CEO Dr. Reynaldo B. Vea delivered the inspirational message.

This year’s MCL Cup over-all chair Dr. Joy Hofilena, dean of College and Arts and Sciences, turned-over to Engr. Dennis Tablante, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Mapua Institute of Technology in Laguna, the position for next year’s chair of MCL Cup.

The MCL officials cheerfully awarded the medals, trophies, cash & MCL gift certificates to the respective winners of the 7 Team & 3 Group Events.  The 2009 MCL Cup jubilant champions - the St. Scholastica’s College Westgrove (Speech Choir) and the Muntinlupa Science High School (Choral Competition) spiced the ceremonies with confident level renditions of their winning performances.
